Summary
[edit]DescriptionEglwys Ein Harglwyddes a Chynfil Sant- Church of Our Lady and St Cynfil - geograph.org.uk - 618786.jpg |
English: Eglwys Ein Harglwyddes a Chynfil Sant/ Church of Our Lady and St Cynfil An interior view of the Kosciol pw. Matki Bozej i sw. Cynfila at the Polish Home, Penrhos near Pwllheli. In area where Roman Catholic churches are rather thin on the ground, it is an interesting coincidence that the church stands within a stone's throw of Penyberth, the old manor house demolished in 1936 to facilitate the construction of RAF Penrhos. The Gwyns of Penyberth were a leading Catholic recusant family. One of their sons, Robert Gwyn, is listed among the twenty or so Caernarvonshire men who returned from the Continent to engage in Catholic missionary activity between 1570 and 1640. |
