Description Egg shaped puffball (Lycoperdaceae sp.) on horizontal moss covered Mahoe (Melicytus ramiflorus) branch, Wellington, New Zealand. Approx. 1cm tall. At this stage top has split open relevealing the inner white flesh and it is continuing to turn brown on the outside. May just be growing in soil under the moss rather than feeding off the tree.
