English: . CD4+ T cell fate induced by dendritic cells. When in contact with DC, naïve CD4+ T cells can differentiate into a number of subtypes. Among them, are regulatory T cells (Treg) and T helper (Th) subsets, which include Th1, Th2, and Th17 cells. Each subtype expresses different transcription factors, which regulate the function and cytokine secretion pattern of the cells. The T cell fate decision is a complex phenomenon that heavily depends on the interaction of DC with the T cells and the cytokines present in the microenvironment. |
