[edit]Mr. And Mrs. Edwin G. Duryea Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Riverhead. December 28, 1911. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Duryea quietly celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in this village on Christmas Eve. The happy couple were married at Mattituck on December 24, 1861, by the Rev. Mr. Hamlin, and have resided the greater part of their married life in Riverhead. Mr. Duryea Is a well-known contractor and builder, and is still engaged in active business, being at present engaged in a contract at Southampton. Mrs. Duryea's maiden name was Reeve. Mr. Duryea built some of the big places at Wheatley Hills, and has had many large contracts. He Is well known throughout Long Island. He enjoys health, and so does Mrs. Duryea. They live in a very attractive house. Boss Duryea, as he Is known to everybody at the county seat has two sons, Ernest H. Duryea and Frederick R. Duryea, the latter living at Southampton. George Duryea, the oldest son, is an engineer, and lives in Brooklyn. The happy couple have two daughters, Mrs. H. R. Spedick, of Manhattan, and Miss Mabel Duryea, of Riverhead. Mr. and Mrs. Duryea attend the Congregational Church in Riverhead, and a host of friends extended congratulations on the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage.
