Description
English: H.R.H. the Prince of Wales in front of Sir John Rose's house, Sherbourne Street, Montreal. (L-R): Sir Edmund Head, Governor General; the Prince of Wales; Major-General Robert Bruce (brother of James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin, the previous Governor General); Henry Pelham-Clinton, 5th Duke of Newcastle (at that time the British Secretary of State for the Colonies). This is a modified version of a photograph by William Notman, in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery in the United Kingdom. In the original photograph, Sir Christopher Charles Teesdale (Master of The Ceremonies and Extra Equerry to H.R.H.) was standing between the Governor General and the Prince of Wales, but he was removed from this version of the image.
