Scout Funds Boosted By Rodeo Event. Cowboys and horses from various parts of the state competed in the Ropers and Riders Field Day, staged Sunday at the Casa Grande rodeo field and 'approximately $20. was added to the treasuries of toe two Casa Grande boy scout troops. A good attendance and keen competition contributed toward the success of the event. Besides the contests, spectators were enthralled by the trick riding performances of Miss Marion Green, Gis, Grande rodeo trick rider and trick roping by Lucky Robinson. Montana roper, Dorothy Gaskill was scheduled to give a steer riding exhibition but a slip up resulted in the failure of a steer to arrive. Miss Gaskill was on hand ready to do her stuff, but there was no steer on hand. Results of the various roping and riding contests follow:

  • Greenhorn calf roping — Jack Nichols Coolidge 24.4 seconds, first; Ed Plumb. Casa Grande, 33 seconds, second.
  • Professional roping — Buck Nichos 19.2 seconds, first: Eddy Dbcon. 19..3 seconds .second *Second class roping — Cecil Wintz. 25.3 seconds, first;
  • Ray Southard, 29.2 seconds, second! Jack pot roping, Gail Taylor, Chandler, 18.2 seconds, first; Davie Stout. 2L3 seconds, second. Bending race, O. C. Glenn, Douglas 24.3 seconds, first; Roland Curry. 25..3 seconds, second.
  • 220 yards horse race — M. Simms on Ike. first; S. Dixon's horse second, time, 11.4 seconds. *Quarter mile horse race—W- B. Skinner's Lady Bell, first; Pecky .Parks' Horsefeathers, second, time, 21.4 seconds. Half mile race—L. Sands' Ten- file, first; Frank Williams' Toy Lady, second, time, 50.2 seconds.
