Title
Edward 1st long cross penny
Description
English: A Medieval silver long cross penny, probably of Edward Ist (AD 1272-1307). London Mint, probably Class 10cf, dating to c. 1301-1310. The obverse depicts crowned ruler facing with bifoliate side-fleurs, however the attributes are difficult to fully identify due to damage; obverse legend reads: + EDWA R ANGL DNS hYB, with the S oriented horizontally, perhaps to better fit into the legend. Cf. North 1991, Vol II p32, Nos. 1040-1043. A more specific identification is difficult due to damage obscuring obverse decoration, including the crown and bust; however, it is likely that this coin belongs to Class 10cf3 (cf. North 1991 Vol II, No. 1041).
