| Description |
English: A fine website has, translated: From a document dated March 17, 1573, it is understood that its construction was requested by Mimar Sinan; II. It is understood that Selim deemed it appropriate to expropriate the houses on the land and build an inn. The people met their fruit and vegetable needs from the Yemiş Kapanı Inn. It was destroyed in the earthquake of July 30, 1752 and was demolished in 1937. The site of the destroyed Yemiş Kapanı Inn was turned into a park in 1967. After it was registered by the Supreme Council of Antiquities and Monuments in 1976, excavations were finally carried out in this area between 2014 and 2016. During the excavations, important findings were obtained about the original state of the inn before its collapse. On the site mentioned one can see pictures that show a decently intact building, I do not know when and how long they stood like that. |
