| Description |
English: Edinburgh coat of arms on Viewforth Bridge. Viewforth Bridge over the Union Canal bears two inscriptions: on the east side of the bridge, shown in the photo, is Edinburgh's coat of arms, while the west side bears that of Glasgow:534281. The canal, opened in 1822, was originally named the Edinburgh & Glasgow Union Canal, but is now never referred to as anything other than the Union Canal. Its creation formed a link, via the Forth & Clyde Canal, between Glasgow and Edinburgh. |
