Summary
[edit]DescriptionEdinburgh Corporation Transport preserved bus 314, Guy Arab 5LW Nudd JWS 594 (1943) Madder and White livery, Scottish Vintage Bus Museum, 16 May 2010.jpg |
English: Preserved Edinburgh Corporation Transport bus 314 (reg. JWS 594), a 1943 Guy Motors Arab 5LW double-decker with Nudd Brothers bodywork (Nudds was bought by Duple Coachbuilders in 1952), wearing Madder and White livery. Pictured in the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum in Fife.
As part of tram replacement efforts, 60 of these buses were bought second hand from London Transport, being rebuilt by Nudd as 55 seat vehicles. The fronts grille areas of these buses were altered in 1961 to standardise the appearance with other buses in the company, but having been withdrawn by 1970, it was returned to the original rebuilt appearance seen here, in preservation. A later batch of Daimlers were similarly rebodied by Alexander for the corporation. |
