Description

View of Edinburgh Castle from Lothian Road. Every day, a 'one o'clock gun' is fired from the battlements. Originally this was from a large medieval cannon called MONS MEG.

Edinburgh has, as far back as historical records show, a fort of some type on Castle Rock. . The present castle was constructed in parts during in the 17th century.
