One day in-Inly. 1865, the treasure coach for the southleft Virginia City with seven passengers, N. S. Parker, A. ,1. McCaus-land. David Dinan, W. L. filers, L. F. Carpenter, Charles Parks and,lames Brown, and a large amount of treasure in dust and gold bars.These men were all hardy miners and mountaineers who. with a viewof protecting their hard earned treasure from the attacks of robbers,were armed with double-barreled shot-guns loaded with buckshot.They Eeared an attack upon the coach, and determined to defend itwith their lives. They watched in turn at the coach windows, withguns ready for instant use. with the hope of obtaining the first shot incase of an attack. The drivers name was Frank Williams,
