Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Ecclesden Mill. Built in 1826 to replace John Oliver's post mill that blown down in the same year. In fact the mill was originally called Highdown New Mill. Milling ceased in 1872 and the sails were blown off in a storm eight years later. Now a private residence the mill has recently been heightened and a new lead cap added - see 797622 for what it looked like previously. The field between the footpath and the mill is occupied by goats one of whom is taking a great interest in what I'm doing from his lofty perch.
