Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The well known Easter eggs used for decoration during the Easter holidays are still used in Poland, and treated not only as a symbol of Earth to celebrate spring, but also as a symbol of resurrection.

Painted eggs and other products like bread, salt, sausage, ham, horseradish, and Easter cake are put into a basket and brought to the Church on Holy Saturday to be blessed by a priest. It became so popular that the blessing takes place not only at the church, but can be organized as a public ceremony on the main square of Polish towns. The blessed food is used on Easter Sunday Breakfast, which is a common custom in Poland.
