NPS/Patrick Myers This unusual plant brightens the park's grasslands each summer, generating many visitor questions. The colorful cream and rose-colored seedpods appear to be hand-painted! Look for it in the grasslands near the Visitor Center in late June and early July. The scientific name of this rare species, also called "Painted Pod Milkvetch", is Astragalus ceramicus. Behind the "easter eggs" in this photo are purple Dwarf Lupine flowers.
