Summary
[edit]DescriptionEast Moors, St Mary Magdalene - geograph.org.uk - 814149.jpg |
English: East Moors: St Mary Magdalene 1881-2 : George Gilbert Scott, Jun.
This church has often been attributed to Scott's pupil, Temple Moore, but a set of drawings exist that are signed by Scott. These are illustrated in Gavin Stamp's excellent biography of the architect, "An Architect of Promise: George Gilbert Scott Junior (1839-1897)", Donington, 2002. This design, Stamp notes, ' was prepared by 1879 when work was due to begin but, in the event, it was postponed for several years by which time Moore was superintending the project' (pp.116-7). |
