Summary
[edit]DescriptionEast Meadow, Warley Place - geograph.org.uk - 131364.jpg |
English: East Meadow, Warley Place. This is the East Meadow of Warley Place nature reserve. The Reserve is sited in the grounds of Warley Place demolished in 1939. The gardens were created by Miss Ellen Willmott a famous horticulturalist in the early twentieth century. After her death in the mid 1930s the gardens went back to nature. In a fortnight or so the meadow should be awash with Wordsworthian native daffodils. Click Here to see 142692. Early crocus can be seen just coming into bloom in the foreground the spectacular displays of less than ten years ago are no more because of grazing rabbits with a taste for crocus leaves. The Reserve is leased by Essex Wildlife trust http://www.essexwt.org.uk/ it is only open to trust members and not generally to the public except by special arrangement (see the link). The photo was taken looking NNE. |
