Description
English: East Ham Information Bureau- War Welfare work in London, 1941
A woman speaks to an information officer at the East Ham War Information and Enquiry Bureau, whilst two ARP workers and various other people wait their turn. According to the original caption, enquiries concerning first aid, repairs to houses and the removal of furniture can all be dealt with in this room. The information officer is holding receipts or other paperwork from Matthew's Bros, so it is possible that this lady's enquiry concerns furniture. The sign just visible at the back of the room indicates that people should go that way for respirator replacements.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
