Summary
[edit]DescriptionEast Chevington Nature Reserve - geograph.org.uk - 1452013.jpg |
English: East Chevington Nature Reserve. One of the large Lakes and surrounding reed beds created from a former opencast coal mining site. Part of the larger Druridge Bay Nature Reserve, managed by The Northumberland Wildlife Trust. See link in 1451947
In August 2009, East Chevington Nature Reserve reed beds were home to the first marsh harrier chicks to have been bred in Northumberland for more than 100 years The breeding shows the success of the reed beds on the reserve, which are still developing on the site following its return from opencast mining in the 1990s http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/8220603.stm |
