Description New Zealand's East Cape of the North Island is one of the most isolated areas in the country. This region has a reputation for rugged yet spectacular coastlines, rich Maori heritage and culture, and a relaxed way of life centered around Te Moana (the ocean). The East Cape region is where the films Whale Rider and Boy were set and filmed.
