Summary

[edit]
Description This historic house on East 98th Street in Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood is definied by the four large tuscan columns on its porch, and its large bank of windows in the dining room. It is slated for rehabilitation, and will then be sold to a new owner. Constructed in the early 20th Century, the large house is a variation of the typical large Four-Square houses on Cleveland's East Side, and was renovated heavily in the 1960s, with the basement partially finished, drop ceilings installed, and the entire kitchen replaced. The structure is in decent shape, though it does have some water damage that is slated to be remediated, with an attached rear garage, original details in the first floor living room, attic bathroom, second floor bedrooms, entry, and dining room, as well as a somewhat retro 1960s-era kitchen, plus interesting and vibrant color schemes in the bedrooms. There is also a large dance hall in the partially finished basement, which appears to date to the 1960s, and includes a secondary kitchen in the rear, which will need to be completely ripped out due to serious water damage, but is the only major issue with the house, which will be addressed by the developer. Today, this house is located in a more affluent and better pocket of Glenville, which has seen much of its central core and eastern edge decline. However, I do have high hopes for the future of the neighborhood, as it is in close proximity to the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, University Circle, and the Lakefront.
