English: We’re sharing some “Things Heard” in the field from the Earth Expeditions NAAMES team as they work to learn more about the ocean-atmosphere interaction. Microtops Sunphotometers are hand-held instruments that, when pointed at the sun, allow accurate measurement of aerosol optical thickness through the use of wavelength bands.
The North Atlantic Aerosols and Marine Ecosystems Study (NAAMES) studies the world’s largest plankton bloom and how it gives rise to small organic particles (aerosols) that leave the ocean and end up in the atmosphere, ultimately influencing clouds and climate. www.nasa.gov/content/2016-earth-expeditions-naames |
