Early to Late Medieval Annular Brooch
Description
English: Copper alloy square annular brooch. It has a square frame with a flat back. The front and edges are decorated. Around the edge is a deep groove with small linear indentations. The front of the frame is decorated with a band of dot stamps. On the inner edge are a series of seven circular recesses. These are arranged so that there is one in each of three corners and one in the middle of each side and are probably for glass or other stones.The forth corner has a circular hole for the attachment pin (original pin is missing- a replacement has been attached by the finder).
