Description
English: KB3 Cast copper-alloy stirrup terminal. Early medieval, c. 11th C AD. Mass: 11.7g; length: 36.8mm; width: 13.4mm; depth: 11.7mm. C shaped in section, with a hollow reverse which would have enclosed an angled arm of the lower part of the stirrup. Zoomorphic, with a ribbed and grooved collar at the top. The terminal retains lead solder in the reverse. In “Stirrup Terminals”, Williams (1997, p.2) dates these objects to a period centring on the second half of the 11th century.
