Title
Early medieval sleeve clasp
Description
English: An incomplete early medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper alloy sleeve/wrist clasp (AD c.475 - c.600), missing its attachment lugs. The object is broadly rectangular in shape. On the front, it consists of three plain rectangular areas, one at each terminal and one at the centre. These areas are separated by narrower collars, the edge of which curve towards the rear of the object. Each collar has two pairs of narrow transverse grooves separated by a pair of wide transverse grooves. Both the wide and the narrow grooves are gilded. The reverse is divided into three slightly recessed areas that roughly match the two rectangular terminals on the front. The are two projecting stumps that appear to be the remains of attachment lugs. Although the attachment lugs are missing, the decoration suggests this object fits into Hines' (1984) Form B, possibly a B 14a or 20.

Overall, the object measures 35.20mm long, 7.55mm wide and 5.21mm thick. It weighs 4.75g.
