Title
Early medieval penny
Description
English: Eadmund of East Anglia as king (North, 1980, 456).

Ruler: Eadmund of East Anglia

Denomination: penny

Moneyer: "Sigered" (possibly)

Obverse description: 'A' with pellets either side

Obverse inscription: EADMVND REX

Reverse description: Cross pattee with a pellet in each angle

Reverse inscription: SITREDMOH [Letter missing (E or F), "T" is actually Γ and may intend C or G, "D" may intend Ð, the "H" is certainly N in the period's orthography and part of the word MON, moneta, money or the moneyer]

Discussion: This coin is likely to be a continuation of a previous hoard of three silver Eadmund pennies, which were recorded through the Treasure Act in 2004 (see 2004 T115, and on the PAS database as SF-077A54, SF-076841 and SF-D99E44).
