Title
Early medieval mount (front, reverse)
Description
English: Sheet copper-alloy mount decorated with repousse dots. Early medieval. Length: 54mm; width: 15.5mm; mass: 1.9g. The sheet is broadly flat at one end but curves gently forwards and then backwards at the other end. There are three rivet holes in the sheet. These were punched from the front as the edges of the rivet holes project from the reverse. Two of the rivet holes are on broken edges at the flatter end of the sheet, and the third is towards the curved end. The sheet is likely to have been riveted through these holes, possibly to a vessel or garment. The longer edges of the sheet are decorated with punched dots.
