Title
Early medieval hooked tag
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Early Medieval hooked tag or link from a strap distributor of the 'socketed hook' type, dating from the early 11th century. The hook consists of a moulded quartrefoil boss with a circular loop projecting behind, below the boss is a flat plate that descends down to the hook which is worn and broken. The plate is moulded and is lozenge and oval shaped. Along the opposite edge of the hoop another bar descends down and attaches to the hook and the back of the plate. The tag is very worn, and is a red brown colour, with patches of green patina. The tag measures 46.2mm in length, 15.2mm in width, and 16.1mm in thickness. It weighs 11.04g.

The same type of hooked tag is shown in Read 2008, page 214, number 770.
