Title
Early medieval glass bead
Description
English: A pale green monochrome glass bead, probably dating to the early Anglo-Saxon period. The bead is cylindrical in shape with a circular perforation. The bead has a length of 6mm and a diameter of 8mm. The bead is similar to some found in early Anglo-Saxon inhumation burials at Barrington in Cambridgeshire (e.g. Malim and Hines 1998, fig. 3.32, no. 63; also see p. 207-9), but small green glass beads are also known from other periods (e.g. Roman, medieval and post-medieval).
