Title
Early medieval fitting: Anglo-Scandinavian strap end
Description
English: A copper-alloy strap end dating to the 9th century. The strap end is an elongated oval shape with a zoomorphic snout and a decorative panel that was probably inlaid with niello, but this is too worn for further identification. The strap end has a split at the top where the strap would have been secured with two copper alloy rivets (now missing).
