Title |
Early medieval copper alloy mount |
|||
Description |
English: Early medieval copper alloy mount, 28mm long, 25mm wide and 2.5 mm thick with a weight of 9grams. The object is rectangular in form and cross section and has a raised double linear border. There is a central raised rectangle c.5mm in width. This is surrounded by Salin style I decoration, possibly showing two beasts? The surface is encrusted but may have originally been gilded. The reverse is plain except for a small central circular rivet hole, which would have held an additional central piece on to the front.
