Title
Early medieval buckle
Description
English: A cast copper alloy 'D' shaped buckle. Zoomorphic in design, depicting two birds - possibly swans - with their necks tangled on the outside edge. The frame appears slightly domed, with a concaved reverse. There is an uneven spread of green patina on the buckle. It measures 37.9mm x 33.9mm x 4.9mm, and weighs 11.45g. A parallel to this can be seen on the database (KENT-CD50A4) dating it to the early Medieval period, c.800-1100AD (mid- to late Anglo-Saxon).
