Early medieval barrel lock |
||
Description |
English: A corroded iron barb-spring (or barrel) padlock fragment comprising a flat disc with two sub-rectangular bumps visible on one surface. These are the ends of the spines (which support the springs), fixed through the end-plate of the bolt. The fragment measures 37mm in diameter and 5mm in thickness.
Similar examples at Winchester come from contexts of the late 10th to 16th centuries. |
