Early medieval "ball ended" strap fitting
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy early medieval "ball-ended" strap fitting dating to the 11th century AD, missing one of its ends. The surviving part of the object is formed from a roughly rectangular-shaped plate, the complete end terminating with three circular knobs. Decoration consists of pairs of openwork shapes: two circles at the complete end, then two small trefoils, then two larger trefoils (one of which is incomplete due to the break. The plate is also decorated with incised lines. On each of long edges of the plate is a copper alloy rivet. Overall, the object measures 33.4mm long, 31.3mm wide and 6.5mm thick. It weighs 13.49g.

This type of object is published in Andrew Rogerson and Steven Ashley (Medieval Archaeology 59 [2015], 302-5).
