Title
Early medieval: Great square-headed brooch fragment
Description
English: A tongue-shaped terminal from an Early Medieval copper-alloy possible great square-headed brooch. The fragment suggests the brooch has been torn and broken. At the break is a pair of scrolled side projections. The brooch has a rivet and a separate sheet fitting on the back. On the front are four concentric U-shaped ridges which enclose a central oval ridge at the upper edge of which the rivet is visible. The ridges are randomly decorated with punched decoration.
