Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Early days of railway preservation at Quorn & Woodhouse
The preservation of the Loughborough to Leicester section of the Great Central Railway was in its infancy in the early 1970s. The GCR Director locomotive "Butler Henderson", which had been in the Clapham Museum for a number of years, was on static display at Quorn at this time and keen railway enthusiasts may be able to make it out behind the brake van on the left. The station is on the extreme left, its island platform reached by a stairway from the bridge. The goods store in the centre of this picture is shown in Ashley Dace's SK5416 : Quorn And Woodhouse Railway Station and Goods Yard, which makes an interesting comparison with this Instamatic snap.
