Description
English: Unfinished Early Saxon oval buckle frame with flashing and sprue attached. A sprue is attached to one side and a flat sheet of metal fills the lower part of the inner space and extends outwards from near the flat underside to a jagged edge. The flashing indicates that the two parts of the mould were imperfectly occluded. Frame 8.5 x 16mm. Whole object 21.5 x 13mm. Thickness of flashing <0.5mm. Mid 5th – 7th century.
