Description |
English: Early Saxon gilt reversed S-shaped mount, the curving body of the animal is made of two curved knurled ribs between three plain ribs with a beaked head at both ends. The eye of both the beaked heads is a prominent flat-topped boss. There is an integral rivet on both sides on the reverse, both of which retain a scrap of copper alloy sheet. 25 x 25mm. A 6th-century Frankish type. |
