Early Saxon fragment of square-headed brooch
Description
English: Fragment of Early Saxon footplate of Great square-headed brooch of Leeds 1949 Group B1 and Hines 1997 Group XVI. Both ends are broken and the edges are missing apart from parts of the lower borders. Even here the two surviving circular pierced lobes are incomplete. The lower borders, the inner panel frames and the inner panels are very close to Morningthorpe grave 214 A and Bergh Apton grave 64 A. 43 x 25mm. 6th century.
