English: Incomplete, Early Saxon gilt footplate of Great Square-headed brooch, terminal lobe and probably silver sheet appliqués from side lobes missing. Leeds Group A4. Hines Group XVII. Decoration includes ring-and-dots which are apparently punched, rather than moulded. On reverse most of catchplate flap missing, and a patch of azurite. Upper break recent. Length >47mm. Width 58mm. |
