Title
Early Roman copper alloy dragonesque brooch
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy Dragonesque brooch. The brooch has the classic 'S'-shaped plan with an expanded central body and zoomorphic head at either end. Both heads are circular and contain a recessed circular cell. The two cells are filled with an orange-brown coloured degraded enamel. At the top of each head is a small triangular 'ear'. The main body is decorated with a transverse diagonal channel with a narrower channel flanking either side. The reverse of the main body is slightly concave. There are no obvious signs of pin or catchplate fittings.
