Title
Early Roman bow brooch
Description
English: Late Iron Age/Early Roman brooch: a copper alloy Colchester type bow brooch. The brooch is simple and undecorated, and slightly deformed. Originally it would have been formed from a single piece of copper alloy, but the piece used to form the spring and pin is now lost. The head has been deformed, but retains its short crossbar and hook used for spring security. The bow is gently curved with an oval cross-section, and undecorated, while the catchplate is large, triangular, and undecorated.
