Early Post medieval: Complete doubled looped buckle frame
Description
English: A complete copper alloy double looped buckle of Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1650).

The buckle frame is complete, the pin is missing. The strap bar is narrowed. One loop is circular, and the other is angled with a pin rest present at the angle. The back is flat.

It measures 29.4 mm in length, 17.0 mm wide and 2.9 mm thick. It weighs 2.6 g.

The buckle is dark green colour with an even surface patina. Find has been treated with olive oil.

Similar style oval double looped buckles have been published as #324 by Whitehead (1996, p56). These have been dated to AD 1550 to AD 1650. Similar ones have been recorded on the PAS database as BERK-3E6C9C and YORYM-AEE3F7.
