Title
Early Post Medieval copper-alloy strap fitting from a sword belt hangerln
Description
English: Early Post Medieval copper-alloy strap fitting from a sword belt hanger. The plate is sub triangular in shape with a trifoliate terminal. The inner face is undecorated. The outer face has a finely executed raised foliate decoration within a beaded border. It has been inlaid with black niello. There are two rivet holes, both retaining remnant iron rivets. The artefact would have been one of three similar plates which would have hung from a mount with three suspension loops. Each plate would have had a forward facing hook. This particular one is missing about half the hook. See Read 2008, 220 No. 793 for a reconstructed example. No. 794 is very similar to the object of this record. Dates to between c1500 and c1700 AD.

The length is 45mm, the width is 20mm, thickness 11mm, and the weight 8.92g.
