Title
Early Post Medieval: Plain finger ring
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy finger ring, probably of Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 - AD 1700).

The hoop is D shaped in cross section, being rounded to the external (outside edge). No bezel is present. No evidence of either external decoration or an internal inscription is present.

The finger ring has an external diameter of 21.49 mm, and an internal one of 18.38 mm. It is 4.24 mm wide. The ring is 1.88 mm thick. It weighs 2.8 grams.

The finger ring is a dark brown colour, with an even surface patina.

Plain finger rings of this style can be hard to date accurately as they can be relatively long lived, but it is thought that they tend to be consistent with Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 - AD 1700). A similar example has been recorded on the PAS database from Roundway, Wiltshire as WILT-D9E628.
