Description |
English: A probable fob seal (or possible locket) of c. 18th century date. If a seal, the intaglio is now lost, and the extant find consists of a deep, circular holder with a cross-hatch of gilt covering the reverse, and which swivels between two relatively unadorned support arms. The arms curve inwards to conjoin at the centre. 32.3mm long when flattened out with seal lying vertically, 25.4mm wide. Fob is 25.7mm high, and 6.1mm thick at top. Mass 8.9g. Circular seal 6.2mm deep, 19.3mm diameter. |
