Early Medieval sword pommel cap
Description
English: Early Saxon Incomplete copper alloy sword pommel cap, pointed ovoid in plan, of ‘cocked hat’ type, elevation with convex base and broken upper part, slight longitudinal hollow on the underside, with a perforation in the top for the tang. In the centre of the broken upper part there is a framed space around the hole, which contains traces of corrosion. 39 x >12mm. cf. 237-8, nos.46.1-4. 6th-7th-century.
