Title
Early Medieval small-long brooch
Description
English: A possible fragment of an early medieval small-long brooch dating to the 6th century AD. Only the fragment of the bow remains. It is semi circular in shape, and the bow widens and flattens towards the edge where the head-plate would have attached. The bow narrows then widens in a curve. At the top of the bow is a ridge which is triangular in cross section, above this the brooch is broken and worn. The other end of the bow is slightly bent and ends in a worn break. The reverse is undecorated. The bow measures 24.7mm in length, 11.2mm in width, and 3.3mm in maximum thickness. The fragment weighs 4.24g.

The fragment is similar to ones in Hattatt 2000 page 376.
