Title
Early Medieval glass beads
Description
English: Two glass beads of the ribbed 'Melon' type, translucent pale green glass, both with seven longitudinal ribs.

Bead A: Diameter 15.4 x 13.9mm, Length 12.5mm, Hole diameter 5.0mm tapering to 2.8mm, Mass 3.22g

Bead B: Diameter 14.9 x 14.0mm, Length 12.6mm, Hole diameter 4.8mm tapering to 3.6mm, Mass 2.94g

Melon beads are seen as a Roman type and therefore early but there is no reason why they should not have been produced in the Early Medieval period and a sixth century date is possible.
