Title
Early Medieval dress pin
Description
English: Copper alloy multi faceted pin for dress or hair. The pin has a polyhedral head which is essentially a cuboid, the corners of which have been filed or flattened into planes. The four larger facets are lozenge shaped, the eight smaller ones are sub-triangular. Each facet has a central ring and dot motif. The integral shaft is sub-circular in section and is broken off so it is not known whether the pin tapered or was hooked at the end. Below the head is a small collar. It has an overall mid green patina with lighter colouring in the dot motifs.
Date: Middle Early-Medieval - c. AD 700 - 850

The collar is feature of dress pins of Early-Medieval date.

The pin is 31.56m in height and is 8.26mm wide. The thickness is 6.34m and the weight 3.30g.

Similar pins have been described in YORYM-0989DC, YORYM-098054, PUBLIC-989D07, BERK-70D9B3 and YORYM-0D6D93.
